How To Format USB To Fat32: A Quick and Easy Tutorial

FAT32 is not present in the normal Windows formatting system. When your USB drive is over 32GB, you must launch another capable USB formatting tool to solve the issue you are facing in your normal Windows.

Here we suggest you download EaseUS Partition Master for free. This free partition manager will help you to format your USB drive without any size restrictions. In addition to its feature, it helps you do multiple tasks; create, resize, delete, Format, copy partition, split, merge, conversion of MBR to GPT drive, etc. Also, many other things you can do via partition manager that you can’t with your default Windows formatting tools.

If you downloaded the specific program for doing USB drive formatting in any size, you must follow some key steps.

#1 Format Via Partition Master

Step 1. Install EaseUS Partition Master on your machine, right-click on the particular segment you want to format and select the “Format” option.

Step 2. Enter the intended Partition label in your current Window and select the required file system, i.e., FAT32. Afterward, you must set the cluster size according to the formatting requirement. Press “Ok.”

Step 3. Then, one message will pop up on the screen; tick Yes to continue the process.

Step 4. Click the “Execute 1 Task(s)” to evaluate the changes made during the process, and press the “apply” button to start formatting the selected partition to FAT32.

Note: Smaller cluster size does not waste much disk space, but smaller cluster size indicates the bigger size of FAT. So, when the file allocation table size is bigger than normal, the operating system slows down its operation with the disk.

#2. Format Via Windows 7/8/10 File Explorer

You must connect your USB drive to your PC or laptop and let your machine recognize the external drive. After it gets detected by your machine, assign a drive letter. After assigning it, you need to check it on the Windows Explorer. Lastly, you must follow some steps to format your USB drive to FORMAT32.

Step 1. Press Windows + E to open File Explorer.

Step 2. Right-click on the USB drive and set Format

Step 3. Select FAT32 as your file system on your machine. After that, select the Quick Format option and let FAT32 begin its USB formatting.

#3. Format Via Windows 7/8/10 Disk Management

Disk management is one of the major advantages of Windows and is designed for users so that they can manage disk partition-oriented jobs. This Disk Management feature always helps users to format a small USB drive to FAT 32.

Step 1. Press right-click on the pc icon on your Windows 10, or you have Windows 7, then press My Computer and select the Manage option.

Step 2. Go to Storage and click Disk Management

Step 3. Use your mouse to right-click your USB drive and select the Format option.

Step 4. Lastly, come to the File System section and check the drop-down list to choose FAT32. Finally, click OK.
